Congratulations to Professor Jeff Sovern who was recently named the inaugural Michael Millemann Professor of Consumer Protection Law at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.  Professor Sovern joins Maryland Carey Law after 40 years on the faculty of St. John’s University School of Law where he wrote about and taught consumer protection law.  Maryland Carey Law’s announcement can be read here.

Professor Sovern and we come at issues from opposite sides of the street and we have engaged in friendly sparring with him over many years on Consumer Law & Policy Blog, where he is a frequent contributor, and our blog, Consumer Finance Monitor.  Despite our very different perspectives, we have enormous respect for Professor Sovern’s knowledge of consumer financial services law and his passionate and skillful advocacy.  We wish him great success in his new position.
