Deepak Gupta, who was recently Senior Counsel in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, will join attorneys from Ballard Spahr’s Consumer Financial Services Group in a November 21 webinar about the CFPB’s amicus program. The webinar, The CFPB’s Amicus Program: Its Implications and Potential Impact, will focus on the program from both industry and consumer perspectives.

Deepak argued AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion before the U.S. Supreme Court while working for Public Citizen. He later joined the CFPB as Senior Counsel for Enforcement Strategy and was instrumental in launching the agency’s amicus program. Mr. Gupta left the CFPB and started his own law firm, Gupta Beck PLLC, which specializes in representing consumers in high-stakes appellate matters.

During the webinar, I will join Deepak to examine the CFPB’s amicus program, highlighting the factors likely to influence its selection of cases and the potential impact on the parties of the CFPB’s decision to participate in a case. We also will discuss the CFPB’s amicus briefs thus far.

Ballard Spahr partner Alan S. Kaplinsky, Practice Leader of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Group, will moderate the webinar, which will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

Please register at least two days before the webinar.
